Burlington Senior Squadron (NER-VT-002)

Welcome to the website of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Burlington Senior Squadron (NER -VT-002). As a "Senior” Squadron, our members are 18 years of age or older.

Members assist with unit functions, such as finance, technology, administration, leadership, logistics, operations, marketing, and more.  This maintains the unit and allows us to train for, and ultimately provide, certain emergency services via our Cessna aircraft, or ground teams, when needed.

Although CAP is known for its flying missions, less than one-fifth of all CAP members are pilots or aircrew members.  There’s a lot you can offer to the unit, whether assisting at an incident command center, on a ground team, or as part of an aircrew.

Our unit offers opportunities for:

  • Training for, and providing, certain emergency services in our local community. These can include providing airborne imagery of natural or other disasters; assisting with search and rescue efforts for missing hikers, skiers, or aircraft, through our airborne and ground assets; providing emergency radio communications in the event of emergency; and other tasks. CAP is not a “first responder” organization.

  • Providing aerospace education for local schools, youth and civic organizations.

  • Extensive “hands on” experience and skills development in essential aircrew tasks, including radio communications, navigation, and photography.
